Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Cumberbatch has always had an interest in the medical field because of her love for science. She knew she wanted to work with her hands so she decided to shadow a family friend who was a dentist while she was in high school. It was love at first sight! She enjoyed the one-on-one interactions with patients, excitement, and the versatility of general dentistry, and she loved that she has the ability to continue learning.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Cumberbatch completed her undergraduate studies at Spelman College before going to Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She then went on to complete a one-year General Practice Residency at the Baltimore VA Hospital, where she had the honor of serving veterans and their families. She has also completed hands-on training for endodontics and periodontics, a Montefiore Hospital Oral Surgery Externship, and a Somos Amigos Global Health Externship.

Today, Dr. Cumberbatch continues expanding her training and skills so she can provide her patients with comprehensive dental care under one roof. She does this by remaining an active member of the Maryland State Dental Association.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Whenever Dr. Cumberbatch isn’t at the office, she loves to travel and explore different cities abroad by trying new restaurants and going to museums. Her favorite place to visit is Paris, France- in fact, this year marked her 10th visit to the City of Love!

Dr. Cumberbatch enjoys taking long walks with her Pomeranian, Dash, as well as cooking and trying new Rachel Ray recipes she sees on Food Network! She also enjoys preparing meals for her fiancé and hosting dinner parties for her family and friends.
